About Us

Our Story

Mentality Group was formed during Covid in 2019. At the time by a few close individuals within the local communities around Westerham in Kent. We knew that we wanted to help make a difference and something was missing locally to help aid people in need, surrounding the themes for Mental wellbeing.

At the time the affects of adverse Mental Health and suicide had become a world wide crisis, WHO (The World Health Organisation) were predicting that we will sadly see a huge increase in suicides, rising the tragic number to one every 20 seconds.

The pandemic kept the world locked in and only added to the peak of mental illness, hence a new support group was launched to bring comfort to those who are feeling alone, a voice to those who have no-one and encouragement for communities to unite as one.

We have always kept a clear message since day one:

No-One needs to suffer in silence!

Our Commitment To The Community

Who Are We:

Mentality is a dedicated mental health charity that is committed to fostering a world where individuals from all walks of life can attain mental well-being, friendship and community, and thrive. Our local charity is built upon a foundation of compassion, empathy, and a deep understanding of the profound impact mental health has on individuals, families, and our communities.

We are a small and agile team that offer an array of different qualities, advice and experiences to help impact the lives and wellbeing of others that need it most.

What Do We Do:

At Mentality, our mission is to provide comprehensive support, resources, friendship and community, in order to empower individuals facing mental health challenges or perhaps life struggles that can have a knock on effect towards mental wellbeing in their lives. We offer a safe and inclusive space for those seeking advice, solace, understanding, and guidance in their mental health journey.

Through our initiatives, we aim to reduce stigma, promote awareness, and advocate for impartial access to mental health care and support. We also strive to help people within our local communities feel they have a support system and pillar that they can lean on when life throws a spanner in the works, which can lead to an unstable environment / mental wellbeing.

How We Do It:

Community-Centric Approach: We believe in the strength of communities to support each other and offer shared experience, advice or friendships. Through local outreach programs, fundraising events, our support groups across social media and our 'friends of' Whatsapp group. As well as partnerships with local businesses and other services related to or directly involved with mental well being. We create safe non judgmental spaces for open dialogue, connection, growth and healing.

Education and Awareness: We actively engage in mental health thoughts, affirmations and education, raising awareness about the importance of mental well-being, our minds, health and strive to help with early intervention, and self-care. This is mainly broadcast through our social channels and sharing of other online resources or content to help give elevated thought and equip individuals with knowledge and tools to navigate their mental health challenges as well as striving for betterment of life.

Collaboration: Where possible, we collaborate with like-minded people, groups, organisations, professionals, and volunteers to create a united front against mental health disparities. Together, we amplify Mentality's impact and strive to reach more individuals seeking help.

Walk & Talk: We strive to offer unique, bespoke advice and help to individuals. One of our key starting points in people's journey's, or support, is to set up what we like to call our bread and butter service of 'Walk&Talk.' For this, we will offer dedicated one2one time with individuals walking side by side, offering a listening ear or some initial thought and guidance. With the outcome for this service to a.) research and understand an individual's disposition, b.) to then innovate or work out the best provided support for an individual. Be it continuing to be a support beacon to them - source research, resource or mindful practices - offer them community - any required financial support or outsourced professional services.

Innovate: We constantly try to advance our understanding of mental health and wellbeing. Via researching and promoting evidence-based practices, learning (typically online) and also strive for innovative solutions for individuals and our support group, both with our offering of direct solutions / help, or the way in which we frame themes and strategy behind our fundraising or community events. We have built 'strength in community' to aid our services and held events that include golf, fishing, coffee mornings, dog walks, sponsoring local sports teams and via our flagship event / Hike typically from London - Kent. We also understand the importance of education and support towards the younger generations with mental health and wellbeing and offer a small amount of exposure and support in this area with our 'Mentality Club' aimed towards kids. We also aid this awareness with our 'Mentality Kids Super Hero Walk' event.

Overall we aim to not only drive awareness in our communities, but to truly source or improve the quality of care and support available to those in need.
